Who are you? Who? Who?

Have you read my sales pitch on the about me link? If you did, you're probably thinking that really doesn't tell me much about you as a person or a photographer.

Okay. Well, I've always been the analytical person that just didn't have the confidence to....accept....my creative side. Now I have a great support system, spearheaded by my awesome husband, that is encouraging me and ensuring me that I really do have talent!

Now I'm trying to explore just where my photography strengths and weaknesses lie. I know that I love big throw your head back and laugh smiles. I know I hate posed pictures. I know I love how people forget a camera is around when they're truly enjoying themselves. The best pictures come from those moments. I know I hate forced fun.

What does all this mean for a potential client? Well, I guess it means that I'm willing to try anything from events to portraits. My friend Jan once said that I need to mention how my personality helps people laugh and relax while helping them forget about the camera. As long as my clients are having fun, the beautiful shots will come. If that happens, it's really just a matter of clicking the button.

So basically, I want to take pictures that show the joys in life. That celebrate our memories and that show how fun life can be.

Pumpkin Huntin'

I got to get a little more aquainted with my new lens at a family bbq the other day. My father in law and my bambino explored the pumpkin patch. While the pumpkins are a little....ummm non ripe?...it was still fun to get a glimpse of what lies ahead in October. I'm sure a lot of families have pumpkin patches in their future!

Dodge

Mandy was looking for an affordable alternative to going to a chain studio for snapshots of her adorable little guy, Dodge. Affordable is my middle name. Not really, but it should be. I bet if you ask my husband, he'd say "cheap" should be my middle name.

While my experience with portrait photography is very limited, I figured I should give it a shot. At the very least, it would help me refine some of my skills. Boy did it ever.

I'm so glad I got the opportunity to meet Dodge and his parents. I can't believe how motherhood seems to agree with Mandy. Let me tell you, I was not anywhere near as put together as she is when Jake was 7 weeks old. Dodge was a trooper...not one tear or cry! My only regret is that I didn't ask to hold him. He is so beyond adorable.

Down By The Bay

My friend Shannon despises all things chain. So, when I can, I try to channel Shannon and visit the local spots. Espresso Yourself is one of those local places that I frequent....ok maybe I'm addicted. Not only do they have an awesome blended chai vanilla latte...gingerbread isn't bad, either...but, the owner does a story/music time for the kiddos.

After chatting with him one day while he blended my obsession...I mean chai...he suggested I take some pictures at story time. He said he'd post a few on his site. Win, win for me really. I get the practice and some local advertising.

Here are a few. I'm going to post a few more onto my gallery later tonight so stay tuned!

School Days

I don't think I ever really fully mastered the art of worrying until I became a mother. It's insane some of the things I worry about so when our neighbor said her 3 year old twins were coming home from their first day of school on the bus, I felt her pain. I laughed, and knew exactly how she felt, when she said that her husband insisted.

The first trip home on the bus has to be a big event, right? Just the kind of thing you'd want a few snapshots of to remember in the years to come.

It was a great learning experience. She has a huge beautiful tree in her front yard so the lighting goes from shade to sun in a blink. Plus, it's not like a 3 year old is going to stop and make sure that I get the good shot.
