cousins

I don't know about you, but this Christmas is kicking my tooshie. I can't seem to get it together to save my life! I took these portraits a couple of weeks ago.

The whole goal was to get the three of them together but, alas, kids never like to do what us adults say.

They're cuties, though, aren't they?

Merry Christmas! and Happy Holidays!

A Winter Wedding

I don't get invited to...much less asked to photograph...many winter weddings. When Kim asked me to just capture some moments of the day, I was more than happy.

I don't get to see many Christmas trees during summer weddings. :)

Everyone was definitely in the Christmas and wedding spirit. Everyone was all smiles.

Especially the bride and groom. Congrats!!

Giving Thanks

Meghan had the awesome....and by awesome I mean scary...task of hosting her family for Thanksgiving. She asked if I would come and try to get some shots of the families.

I'm not going to lie. Shooting more than five people at a time is hard for me. Mostly because you can't keep anyone's attention. Plus, I swear blinking is like turning signals on cars. Everyone blinks at slightly different times.

While I'm being honest, yeah, I was a bit nervous walking into the situation. When I saw the dads taking shots of vodka in the kitchen...sigh...it felt like home. :) I contemplated joining in but, I suppose I have to try and be professional.

All the kids were such cuties.

Now, this....this was a hard picture to get. Think chocolate and whipped cream.

Whoever said you shouldn't bribe kids totally wasn't a parent....or a photographer.

Shareef and Zahrah

I was recently asked if I could spare a couple of hours to snap some shots of Zahrah's marriage ceremony.

I found out it was to be an intimate Muslim ceremony.

I got nervous for two reasons. First, intimate meant that I would definitely not blend into the background. Second, I have never been to a Muslim ceremony or a mosque.

Silly. There was no reason to be nervous.

I have never met a group of people so anxious to make sure that the photographer got the shot.

I found that the Muslim ceremony is quite like any Christian ceremony. Love. Family. Unity. Together.

Side Note:

I also learned that followers of Islam hold mothers and motherhood in the highest regard. Love it.
